There was a little bit of miscommunication on our part. Taking into account the time difference, we rang CP, our best man at the wedding to wish him happy birthday as his birthday was a day after our wedding anniversary. But we got our dates all wrong! Louis and I kept thinking that our wedding anniversary was on Wed but Wed was only 22 Nov, the eve of Thanksgiving! So when we rang CP, it was only 23 Nov in Singapore and he thought that we were calling him in advance for his birthday. We only discovered our mistake after some time.
Oh well... regardless, we would have celebrated our anniversary earlier as we were heading out to Julia's and Colin's on Thanksgiving day. We had a nice lovely dinner at a restaurant and since they knew we were celebrating our anniversary, they added a nice touch at the end by decorating our creme brulee dessert with the words "Joyeux Anniversaire". The service staff was great! They gave us complementary champagne and apple cider (for me since I'm supposed to abstain from alcohol) to go along with our dessert.
Next year's wedding anniversary would be special and different on account that the little one would be around. Really, Louis and I couldn't ask for more and we count our blessings for every day that we spent together as a couple.
