Food at Kim Son seemed promising. The ala carte menu seemed quite chinese to me as there were things like hotplate tofu, pork ribs, kailan beef etc. We had a combo sampler of fresh spring rolls, egg rolls and steamed dumpling. Louis had an extra Mekong soup, which he said was like tom yam soup minus the spice. That was so-so. Our verdict? We'll go back again to try dim sum tomorrow morning.
After swimming and lunch, we headed again to Westheimer again to complete the last of our Christmas shopping list. I'm glad to say that we are now left with only one more Christmas present to purchase. Here's a pix of all our wrapped Christmas presents. Ok, they all looked the same cos we bought similar looking wrappers. What can I say? :)
We decided to have Indian food for dinner. Surreptiously checking out the Zagat guide book in Borders, we selected Kiran's (www.kiranshouston.com) as it was along Westheimer. It was a good choice. Between Louis and I, we shared starters of vegetarian samosa, tandoori prawns and a lamb briyani main dish. There was a slight error and instead of a lam briyani, Louis ended up with a vegetarian briyani. He only discovered it after we both started eating it.
The wait staff were really apologetic about it, apologising profusely and telling us to go ahead and eat the vegetarian briyani slowly as they quickly resolve the mistake. Okay... being typical Singaporean and the fact that food was good nonetheless, Louis and I were secretly pleased by the mistake becos we get to eat 2 types of briyani for the price of one :) We concluded dinner with a cup of masala chai.
Ohh... how could I forget this little interesting fact? We rented another car again for this weekend and this time around, we got a rather Dodge-y car. Well, the brand was Dodge and it was kinda old, so, I lovingly called it our Dodgey car. It runs alright, although Louis said that the tires were kinda worn out. Car suspension was pretty much gone too cos everytime we hit a bump, we were pretty much bouncing in the car. The car must be really old cos its been a long time since that both of us had to manually wind up/down the windows ourselves. The car doors are also manually locked. So, what happens is that Louis would have to manually unlock the door with his key on his side, get in and unlock the front passenger door. Ditto the rest of the other doors too. However, it was a set of wheels and it got us from one destination to another and that was fine by me.
Ohh ohh... another one more exciting thing... we spoke to Adrian (elder BIL) today. He's on schedule to transit London on 23 Dec morning, around the same timing that we would arrive in London. One way or another, we'll be hooking up so that we could spend some time together in the day before Adrian flys back to Singapore. And the best part? Adrian's going to be Santa Claus on our behalf, delivering all the lovely goodies to our folks back home. And just in time for Christmas too.
