Part-time maid

Louis and I have been used to doing our own housework over the weekends ever since we shifted into a house of our own. Even through my nine months of pregnancy, we've coped either with Louis taking on more of the housework or having my mom, aunt and sometimes MIL coming over to help out during the times when both of us were away or when Louis is travelling.

With Faith's arrival, the 2 of us have found that it was difficult to cope with the new responsibilities and yet continue spend some 2-3 hours cleaning the house. In fact, we've been either using whatever spare time that Faith has been sleeping to catch up on sleep or just to take a breather.

Hence, we decided that it was time for us to find a part-time maid to come clean our house on a weekly basis. We first engaged one through an agency the previous weekend. Unfortunately, the maid was new on the job and wasn't really experienced in doing a thorough job cleaning the house. Our confinement lady provided a lead for us to contact as she remembered that there was a part-time maid that was used by one of her clients previously. She said the maid was fast, efficient, meticulous and had great initiative.

Thus, Louis and I followed up on the lead and gotten her to try cleaning our house last Sunday. We both agreed that she did a thorough job cleaning the house. And she was rather unobtrusive going about her work cos we did not find her underfoot the entire time even as we moved from room to room.

The good thing was that she really is experience and was fast in cleaning the house, including wiping down the many glass panels in our house. It felt good that the house was clean after she was done and that it was someone else doing all the work while we either spent time with Faith or get on with other chores/work.

With Faith's arrival, there has indeed been many changes in our lives. Some good, some of which we are trying to decide if it will turn out to be good or bad. Like the saying goes, the only certainty in life is change. Definitely, there's been a lot of changes to both our lives since. All our relatives and friends are telling us that things will get better as Faith grow. We certainly hope so and we can't wait for her to grow too.
