Something going bump in the night

I'm soooo tired....

For the 3 nights in a row, Faith decides that she can't sleep in the middle of the night and would like to have some fun poking and jabbing her parents in bed. Monday night, she's woke up around 5-ish and wouldn't get to sleep until I fed her.

Tuesday night, she woke up at 2-ish, 4-ish and 5-ish am. I was too tired out from my day at the gym, so I caved in and fed her each time she roused so that she would go back to sleep. Yesterday night, she woke up at 4.30 am. This time, she still wouldn't go back to sleep despite being offered water, milk and some amount of rocking.

Finally, she fell asleep around 6 am after Louis carried her out of our bedroom into her own to rock her to sleep. Don't think she's teething becos I've been checking her gums to see if there are any budding tooth. Nada.

Along with her waking up at night, she's been resisting all day time naps since Sunday. Sigh... don't exactly know what's wrong. Hope its just a phase that she's going through and that she would go back to normal. Hopefully by tonight.

I'm going to take an afternoon nap today. Been feeling lightheaded from the lack of sleep for the last 2 days. Wonder how parents with 2 kids ever sleep? I know I know... regular lack of sleep is the norm for all parents, but still, I'm like a bear with a bug when I don't get sufficient beauty rest :)

Happy 5th Month, Faith!

Thank goodness for small favours. After her 2 jabs, Faith was only slightly feverish on the 2nd day. We continued to give her Progessic and by the 3rd day, she has fully recovered.

Unfortunately, my dear daughter has decided to give me some amount of grieve last night. I have absolutely no idea -- could only hazard a few guesses but am not sure really what's the real reason --- but she was up at midnight, 2-ish, 3-ish and 4-ish am. The first 3 times, she more or less went back to sleep after I fed her. But at 4-ish am, she decided that she just wants to wake up and play. I fed her but she remained wide-eyed after a 30 min session of feeding.

Tried to pat her to sleep, but to no avail either. Tired and frustrated, I put her back in her cot and went off to my own room to get a breather. She continued to kick and play around in her cot for a good 15-20 minutes, before she started crying for attention. After nearly 3 hours of struggle, I finally managed to put her to sleep at near to 7 am in the morning.

At 8-ish am, she woke up again. I fed her, then again patted her to sleep, with some slight amount of resistance put up before she went back to dreamland. We both woke up at close to 11 am, with me being blurry-eye and extremely grouchy.

Geez... hope she wouldn't repeat this again tonight. Can't wait for Louis to get back home! My posting today is all over the place, but frankly, I'm really not at my best with interrupted sleep for the last few nights. I don't know what's plaguing my little one. Is it her teething that's bothering her (but she's not crying when awake), or maybe she's ready to be weaned onto solids or just that she's waking up for no reason other than to play? Whatever the reason, I'm zapped.

All the same, here's wishing her a happy 5th month!

Rock-a-my-baby... in the sarong

My friend, E is a terrible person - she's a bad influence on this newly minted SAHM :) After just one visit to her home, I've ended up buying 2 items over the weekend; an automated sarong and a new mobile phone.

Alright, alright... before I start losing friends left right and centre, I have to declare that its not her fault. Au contraire, I really have her to thank for. She and her hubby have been telling us about the automated rocking sarong for the longest time when they knew that Faith has problems sleeping in the afternoons. Louis and I were adamant that we didn't want to have too many gadgets or props to help Faith sleep as it would mean one item more to have lug along if we travel with her. Or so we thought.

And so, for the past few months, Faith has to be held and rocked to sleep while cradled in someone's arms or placed in her stroller and rolled along to sleep for two mere 1/2 hour slots every afternoon. When I was at E's place, Faith was rocked to sleep by the up-down motions of the sarong and managed to fall asleep in it for a good 45 mins -- I suspected that it could be longer as we switched off the automated rocking so that she would slowly rouse herself from her sleep for her next feeding. Louis' lightning response when I messaged him about this "new wonderment" that lulled his daughter to sleep peacefully was that we go get it ourselves. Just goes to show you how often you're made to eat your own words after a kid comes along in your life ;)

As for my 2nd purchase, I have to say that I'm very very pleased it with. Its the Nokia E65 phone. In my opinion, the killer-app is the WLAN. See... when I'm breastfeeding Faith, I'm mostly twiddling my thumbs in boredom in her room. Its a bit hard to lug my laptop from the study room and surf the net while cradling her in one arm. With the WLAN capabilities, I can now check my emails and surf the numerous blog sites easily. For a tiny device, the loading capabilities and GUI is pretty fast and good.

All in, the visit to E's place yielded me with 2 wonderful purchases that I'm still congratulating myself on. While she has generously invited me back to visit again, I'm rather fearful to go... no telling what other purchases I would end up buying the next time I do a "trial-test" at her place ;) Our once minimalistic house is really piling up with all sorts of equipments and furnishings.
