RED! Ouch!

Faith is down again with bacterial infection. Sigh... this is the 4th time that she's sick and the doctor had to prescribe antibiotics yet another time. I hate when she has to take antibiotics. She tends to poop more as a side effect and when we do not notice and change her diapers quick enough, diaper rash occurs.

It happened the last time she took her antibiotics and it happened again last night. And we had been rather careful over the past few days. But seeing that nothing had happened, I had thought she cleared the "hurdle". Unfortunately, I only googled and found out after the event that the loose stools as a result of the medication would irritate the diaper area and if we do not change her frequently, rashes would occur.

Poor Faith's bum was all red cos we forgot to check and change her diapers in the evening. She was crying in pain even when we splashed cold water over the area. My poor poor baby. Bad bad mummy!

Hi Eve,

Everyday we learn new thing as our little one grow. Don't be too hard on yourself.

You are definitely not a bad mummy. To me, you are a perfect mom to Faith.. : )

Poor little girl. Don't be too hard on yourself. You're definitely not a bad mommy. Just babies just have more sensitive skin than other.
Sudocream or desitin creamy should be able to clear it out quite quickly.

hi eve,
why not leave her without a nappy for a few hours so that the area gets some air?

you are a wonderful mother, don't be too harsh on yourself..

Yo cosine,

I think you shouldn't be blaming yourself. We're only humans and dun fall into the SUPER mum trap. Bacteria and viruses are most hateful things that make our kids ill. what's most important is that we should take good care of ourselves so as to provide better care to them. Not sure if Faith can take yoghurt but it does help booster the growth of good bacteria in the stomach.

Dear all,

Thanks for the vote of confidence :) She's recovered after applying thick layers of Sudocream and plus the fact that she's finished her antibiotics. Next time, I will resist giving antibiotics unless absolutely necessary.

Cosine: The no-sugar added yoghurt for babies are too sour. She scrunched up her face each time she's given it and after a while, refuses to eat it. I'm giving her probiotic drops in her milk instead. Am considering to make my own yoghurt. Hmmm...

Hi Eve,
Maybe you can try the easiyo yoghurt maker from phoon huat. It is an NZ product. And i find that it is gd. At least, my gal who doesn't like sour taste like it very much. And it is fresh! U made it and it can last 2 wks rather than those processed and shipped to us.

Glad to know Faith is all right now.. and please don't blame yourself you are definitely not a bad mommy. Take heart.. as this is a normal path for children. *a hug to you*
